As well as the two letters of Paul to Timothy, the apostle gives encouragement and pastoral advice to a young pastor who, though well-trained and faithful, faced continued opposition by evil in the churches he ministered. Titus had to communicate encouragement and advice to those who had to establish their churches in the island of Crete.
Paul had total confidence in Titus’ understanding and theological beliefs, as evidenced by the fact that he entrusted the task of building the church in Crete. With the exception of the warning of false teachers, the letters provide no special theological correction. They can be a strong indicator that Paul also had confidence in the doctrinal development of most of the members of the church there —despite the fact that most of them were new believers.
