The road to greatness
Our Lord Jesus is the ideal model for all deacons. He came not to be served but to serve. Jesus, in fact, was the first deacon, proving acts of service are honorable, not in a hierarchical sense. Diaconal service leads to true spiritual growth.
By serving others, a deacon grows and renews himself, becoming a more useful Christian. Every day he grows, becoming more humble, more helpful, more friendly — an indispensable part of the Lord’s work.
Because of His example as a true servant (deacon)— Jesus taught His followers the path to greatness with God and men.
